In the world of Clemson football, a pattern has emerged. Younger quarterbacks consistently push aside veterans, stepping into the spotlight and leading the team to greatness. Deshaun Watson paved the way, ascending behind Cole Stoudt. Trevor Lawrence followed suit, replacing junior Kelly Bryant and leading Clemson to a perfect 15-0 record and a national title.

Last year, the stage was set for another rising star. 5-star freshman Cade Klubnik emerged, pushing 5-star junior DJ Uiagalelei. This familiar narrative worked wonders for Clemson in the past, as both Watson and Lawrence played in two national championship games and emerged victorious in one.

Now, it's Cade Klubnik's turn to shine. The sophomore quarterback recently spoke to the media at ACC Kickoff, expressing his excitement for the upcoming season and the opportunity to step into the position as Clemson's starting quarterback.

"Definitely a huge honor," said Klubnik, acknowledging the big shoes he has to fill. "Just looking at the guys that have been here before me, guys that I look up to a ton. But we've got the same head coach that they had. I'm really thankful for that. I'm excited for Coach Riley. I feel like the guys I'm going to be surrounded by this season, I wouldn't replace them with anybody else. Just so excited for the playmakers that I get to be around every single day and really, really excited."

Klubnik earned his first start in the Orange Bowl last season, facing off against Tennessee. Despite the tough 31-14 loss to the Volunteers, Clemson sees it as an opportunity for growth and motivation.

"We needed to finish drives," Klubnik reflected on the game. "That's where it started. But honestly, I'm just so proud of those guys for that game."

Looking ahead, Klubnik believes that the loss will push the team to reach new heights in the upcoming season. He acknowledges the successful year they had, being ACC Champions and finishing with an impressive 11-3 record. However, the bitter taste of a loss lingers, fueling their offseason training and igniting a newfound grittiness within the team.

When asked about his goals at Clemson, Klubnik's answer is clear: "The reason I came to Clemson was for two things: the culture and to win a national championship. I believe that we're going to be able to do that while I'm here."

As the next chapter of Clemson football unfolds, all eyes will be on Cade Klubnik. Can he continue the legacy of outstanding quarterbacks and lead the Tigers to further glory? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain - Klubnik's determination and talent make him a force to be reckoned with on the field.
