Cade Klubnik, the dynamic quarterback of Clemson University dominated the field, resulting in a staggering 49-14 victory over Wake Forest. This outstanding performance caught the attention of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), who today that Klubnik has been named the ACC Quarterback of the Week.
This recognition isn't new for Klubnik. In fact, it's his second of the season, and second of his career. He previously shared the ACC Co-Quarterback of the Week honor for his performance against Appalachian State in early September. Clemson, as a whole, also hasn't been a stranger to receiving accolades. They've racked up four ACC weekly honors this season, and a whopping 582 ACC weekly awards since 1968.
During the game, Klubnik showcased his exceptional skills by completing 31 out of 41 passes for a total of 309 yards. He also scored three touchdowns and made no interceptions. Not just a passing quarterback, Klubnik also displayed his rushing skills with seven attempts for 30 yards.
After the first two drives resulted in punts, Klubnik led seven touchdown drives over Clemson's next nine possessions. One of these possessions lasted 30 seconds, halted only by the end of the first half. His 31 completions were a season high and his first 30-completion game since the 2023 Gator Bowl against Kentucky.
Over the course of this season, Klubnik has already amassed 17 passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns. This puts him in the record books with the 19th individual season in Clemson history where a player has scored 20 or more touchdowns. Currently, Klubnik ranks fifth in the nation and third among power conferences in touchdown responsibility. His impressive 17-to-2 (8.5-to-1) touchdown-to-interception ratio also ranks him fifth in the nation and third in power conferences among passers with at least 100 attempts and at least five touchdown passes.
After two road games, Klubnik and the rest of the Tigers' team are set to return to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 19, for a match against the Virginia Cavaliers. Fans are urged to secure their seats early to witness C.J. Spiller’s induction into the Clemson Ring of Honor before kickoff. Ticket packages for this game and Clemson’s three November home games at Memorial Stadium are available.
